Japan
It has been a long day. I woke up at six thirty on the day of our trip. Managed to wash, blow dry and straighten my hair. Checked and checked again all my travel documents. Fairly unremarkable journey to Heathrow and onto the plane. My first long haul flight and it was not bad at all. Somehow watched 3 movies!!! Silver linings , This is 40 and The Campaign. Started watching Cloud Atlas but it required so much concentration that I gave up. Instead I opted to read the book I had bought for the journey ‘Americanah’ by Chimanda Ngozi Adichie. As usual she draws me into the story such that I am hooked from the first line and read solidly through until Part 2 Chapter 3.
We seem to have flown over the top of the world. So it was never dark and we had enforced periods of sleep so only slept a few hours.
Landing was good.
Then we were in Narita airport! Japan Japan Japan.
I guess pretty much all airports except for the language but everything is also written in English.
Everybody at the station was polite and helpful.
Queued for an hour or so to get the rail passes – and then we were off!
We are finally here! After 3 months of planning and over 12 hours of travel, we have made it to Japan.
It is now four in the morning and it is starting to get light. I am of course wide awake it is gone eight in the evening back home in London.
I shall write later – need to get back to sleep.
but it is great here!
Have fun and get snapping so we can see your adventures!
We had a great time! Will post some pictures in the next week or so.
