Maybe I’m amazed at the way you move me out of time

Maybe I’m amazed of the way you love me all the time
Maybe I’m afraid of the way I love you
Maybe I’m amazed of the way you move me out of time
And hung me on a line
Maybe I’m amazed of the way I really need you

Maybe I’m the one, maybe I’m the only one
Who’s in the middle of something
That I don’t really understand
Maybe you’re the man, maybe you’re the only man
Who could ever help me
Baby won’t you help me understand

Maybe I’m amazed of the way you’re with me all the time
Maybe I’m afraid of the way I leave you
Maybe I’m amazed of the way you help me sing my song
You right me when I’m wrong
Maybe I’m amazed at the way I really need you

Maybe I’m the one, maybe I’m the only one
Who’s in the middle of something
That I don’t really understand
Maybe you’re the man, maybe you’re the only man
Who could ever help me
Baby won’t you help me understand

Maybe I’m the one, maybe I’m the only one
Who’s in the middle of something
That I don’t really understand
Maybe you’re the man, maybe you’re the only man
Who could ever help me
Baby won’t you help me understand

Maybe I’m amazed of the way you love me all the time
Maybe I’m afraid of the way I love you
Maybe I’m amazed of the way you move me out of time
And hung me on a line
Maybe I’m amazed at the way I really need you

Maybe I’m amazed…
Maybe I’m amazed…
Maybe I’m amazed…
Maybe I’m amazed…

Maybe I’m Amazed, Carleen Anderson, Blessed Burden – 1998

2001, I’m back at home, having lived away for one year as a medical and surgical house officer. I am now a senior house officer in my first paediatric job at North Middlesex Hospital. The summer is drawing to an end but I out there on my bike on the weekend and the weekdays that I off shift. I have this song on my portable CD player (my sister’s again – the purveyor of quality music) and it is on repeat while complete my errands. And all the time I am listening to the song I am wistfully, wishfully thinking of the tall German with the beautiful green eyes. The tall German who has made the previous summer simply amazing. It is true that I have never has a summer like that since. I think it was the pure innocence of it all.
