Huxleys

My partner and I took a day trip to Chipping Campden on Saturday afternoon. Just over two hours drive from London, it is a small market town in the Cotswold district of Gloucestershire. It is very pretty and has a very cosy feel about it. It was a cloudy day but I got the feeling on a sunny day the place looks amazing. After walking about the town, we worked up a little appetite and decided to look for somewhere to eat. Although the town was very quiet to the point of desertion – it seemed the everywhere that we went to was fully booked. Eventually we walked past Huxleys, it looked cool and inviting so we thought we would try it.

Dining al fresco. Nice for the summer evenings and nights

It is a 500 year old building – and very homely.

We were placed at the table by the window. A nice view of part of the High Street.

The whole evening was really nice. Good food, good service and good company.

Leak and potato soup – warm and comforting.

Antipasto Della Casa – a selection of meat, cheese and vegetables

We made our way, eventually, back to London, content with full stomaches.

Covered seats! Not sure what that was all about but it sure was comfortable.
