Soul food

Food for the Soul (and the Stomach)

Tell us about your favorite meal, either to eat or to prepare. Does it just taste great, or does it have other associations?

There is nothing like home cooked food

My mother is Nigerian and in true Nigerian style will not let me leave the family  home without eating a home cooked meal. It is very hard to resist!

One of my favourite Nigerian dishes is gari. It is has a slight sharp taste which is usually tempered by a rich tomato stew with meat and okra. My gosh – heavenly.

Yellow gari

It is sooo tasty and sooo comforting. I eat out a great deal but nothing, nothing tops my mother’s food. I suppose because it is made with love.

Eba and okra. But I personally prefer Pounded Yam with Vegetable soup and Bushmeat. That’s the life!

Seeing this makes me hunger for it. There’s nothing like mom’s cooking 😀
